Connect to the College VPN from Windows

This will explain how to connect to the college VPN server.  A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used to make your computer at home think it is inside the college (basically bypasses the college firewall).  Internal services such as network shares will then be available remotely.

Download and Install the Cisco AnyConnect

Download the file at

Unzip it and run it.  Follow the onscreen instructions

You only need to install it once.  Next time you want to connect to the VPN you can find it in the Start Menu under Cisco Group then Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client

Run Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client

In the Start Menu under Cisco Group run Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.  Type in and click connect.  It will ask you for your college username and password then click OK

Confirming Connection and Disconnecting

You will not see any confirmation but if you look in your system tray there will be the icon shown with a status of Connected.  You can now access internal college resources.  When you are done, click the icon in the system tray and select Disconnect.
